Reading Response- May 27, 2008

In the book A Child Called "It" David is trying to survive playing his mothers "games". He gets hit a lot and isn't doing anything wrong. He barely gets anything to eat and as to steal from people at school. He has scares and bruises everywhere on his body. He also wants no one to do with his mom. When the school found out he was very scared not knowing they weren't going to tell his mom. David has two brothers and his dad doesn't live with them because he is divorced.
Before David's mom started hurting him he used to have a very fun and happy life. He would go on many trips and spend a lot of time with his family.

Dear David P.,
How did you learn these "games" that your mom played? Did you just watch her and see how she hurt you and you learned how to play along and not get hurt? How come your mom started to change? You seemed to have a very good happy life before she went all crazy and started treating you very poorly. Are there any moments in your life that you wish you could go back to those happy moments?
I know how you don;t want anybody to know about your mom hurtung you but why is that? I would think that if you were getting extremley hurt and getting scares that you would tell someone so that they could get it to stop. If she ever found out would she get even more furious and beat you even more?

Green Angel May 22, 2008

About the Characters:

Green: Green is a 16 year old girl. She is very quiet and shy. She does no talk to anyone at school or even her own family. She doesn't think that she is special. She believes that she is just a regular girl with no special talent. The one talent that she did have was that she is a fantastic Gardener and that is why her name is Green. One day Green's family left her to go tot the city where she had always wanted to go because you didn't have to be perfect there. Green had to stay home and pick the weeds. The only thing that stayed with her was her sisters dog Onion. The reason that her family went to the city was to sell vegetables.

Aurora: Aurora is Green's younger sister. According to Green she is very special land is basically perfect. She is also very beautiful, graceful, and a very fast runner. She can also climb trees extremely quickly. Aurora is a little bit of a rule breaker. She never listens to anything her mom says, she never sits still and pays attention, she stole apples from neighbors, and she would run through mud in a new dress. She is a very fearless girl.

The future is something no one can foretell.

I really enjoyed this sentence in the book. To me this means that you don't know what is coming in the future or later on in life. You can't plan on what is going to happen.

Reading Response- April 23, 20008

Dear Professor Dumbledore,
I am writing to you to tell you about Rita Skeeter. She is a writer for the Daily Prophet. This woman is terrible because she finds out stories and write them totally mixed around. When she had an interview with Harry Potter she took out her quick quotes pen and it started to write down a story that wasn't true. She also goes to Slytherin students and asks them for terrible information and then quotes them in the paper.
We all thought that you had banned her from Hogwarts. Also, several think that Rita has an invisibility cloak that she uses to sneak around the school and get nasty stories. She also gave Hermoine many cuts after she wrote a letter to the paper. Then she threatened her to curse her with a bad spell.
Hopefully Rita will be banned from Hogwarts for once and for all. Thanks.

What I think of Barty Crouch and Karkroff:

I believe Serious and I think that Karkroff is aDeath Eater. I think this is because at the first task of the tournament he graded Harry Really so that Krum could win.

Reading Response- April 16, 2008

Dear Hermoine,
You are definitely my favorite character. I love how you think of creatures other than yourself. I feel very sorry for the house elves that are always working. It is obviously not fun at all to be a practical slave to humans. However, from the information that I have heard about elves they are happy doing a lot of work. I know that you are trying to help with your club and all but they are happy and that is how they should be.
Another thing that I like about you is that you are a very kind and helpful friend. She are never on either side of Ron or Harry even if they are mad a t each other. You also always seem to have a cure to all the bad spells they use. One reason out of many that makes you a good friend is that you stick up for them. When Draco Malfoy starts talking to you guys you are always ignoring him and not believing anything that he says.
With loyalty, helping, sticking up for, and your kindness I would definitely want you to be one of my friends.

From,
Bailey H.
Do you agree with the actions that one of the characters did? Would you do it differently?
I would have definitely handled the situation that Ron and Harry went through after Harry was one of the champions. Ron got furious when he saw Harry's name got picked out of the Goblet. He started to get mad when he thought Why didn't my best friend put my name in the Goblet? That was nice. Trying to sneak past the age line but not put your friends name in without even telling him. If I were Ron I would have definitely stayed more calm and asked Harry a few questions. I would have asked, "How did you get passed the age line" and "Why didn't you tell me that you were going to enter." I think that the situation would have been handled a lot calmer, nicer, and better.
